a.k.a. Birthday Posters

Over the span of a few years, I committed to gifting friends a one-of-a-kind poster for a nonexistent movie starring them. The project began in March 2018 as an idea for a last minute gift. Despite its haphazard quality, the inaugural print—entitled Happy Holidaze for no meaningful reason—was a modest hit. I was inspired enough to give it another go. And as time went on, I found myself pouring more and more energy into each work.

Movie posters are typically vehicles for mass marketing. In this case, my audience consisted of one: whomever’s birthday it was. Each poster—hopefully—serves as a tribute to our relationship, and the interpersonal narratives we’ve developed and maintained along the way.
